Facing an up and coming Raiders team, Ryan Fitzpatrick and the undermanned New York Jets will have their hands full in Oakland today.

The question of how angry the New York Jets will be, coming into today’s game against the Oakland Raiders, remains to be seen. The NFL’s No. 1 ranked defense is fuming after losing a game to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots last week. One they felt was theirs for the taking.

Allowing just 281.3 yards per game, Todd Bowles’s defense is still the top dogs in the land.

Despite their defensive prowess, New York knows not to take this Raiders team lightly. Although their record since reaching the Super Bowl back in 2002 is downright horrendous (59-139), this Derek Carr-led squad is anything but.

Head coach Jack Del Rio has Oakland playing solid football, and at 3-3 are right in the mix as far as an AFC Wild Card berth is considered.

Carr and the Raiders are coming off a spectacular 37-29 victory against the rival San Diego Chargers last week. The second-year QB threw for 289 yards and 3 TD.

Del Rio, for one, feels his team improving week by week, via ESPN:

“I feel like we’re growing,” Del Rio said. “I feel like we’re getting better. And I think we all recognize that there’s still a lot to be done, there’s still a lot of work in front of us.”

Not only will New York have its hands full with the young Raiders, but they’ll be severely undermanned. Safety Calvin Pryor, wide receiver Devin Smith, and running back Bilal Powell are all out. Center Nick Mangold will also most likely miss this one (neck injury).

The one guy still in question is Eric Decker, who’s been dealing with a nagging knee injury. All indications point to him trying to give it a go on Sunday.

Kickoff comes your way at 4:05 PM ET. The game will be televised on CBS.
