LeBron James endured a cut on the head in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Here are five things that could be called just as dramatic.

By Robby Sabo

It’s the month of June and we hear the voices of Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. This can only mean the drama of the NBA Playoffs has hit us.

Okay, so maybe it’s not as dramatic as some of us remember when guys like Marv Albert and Bill Walton were calling the games for a little network known as NBC, but I digress.

This is still the NBA Finals, and LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers are treating us to a workmanlike effort against the speed and glamour of Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

During the first half of Game 4 tonight, LeBron took a nasty spill after Andrew Bogut put a nice, clean foul on.

LeBron laid on the ground and squirmed like a Soccer superstar at the World Cup. As a nation we never thought superman was going to get back up and resume. But alas, The King got back to his feet after the nasty spill. Then, for good measure, his momma decides to heal the wound with a seal of a kiss.

What we’re after right now are those few historic American dramatic moments that equal this newly-minted situation.

I know what you’re thinking: a cut on the head the size of a thumbtack? How could anything be as dramatic as that?

Well, here are five:

5. Kerri Strug at the 1996 Olympics

Was there anything more dramatic than housewives all over the globe cheering on little Kerri Strug vault her heart out? Injured with a bum ankle, she captured the imaginations of everybody.

4. The Sopranos Final Scene

We still don’t truly know what happened, and with the untimely death of James Gandolfini we’ll never get that chance.

3. Man lands on the Moon

Yes, Neil Armstrong did proclaim “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The question is, however, was this more dramatic than LBJ’s cut tonight?

2. JFK Assassination

Obviously nobody wants to make light of this situation, but it still needs to be considered when such a dramatic event (like a LeBron head-cut) in our country’s history occurs.

1. Paul Pierce in a wheelchair

Still, the most dramatic event in Earth’s history was when Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce needed the assistance of a wheelchair during the 2008 NBA Finals.
