New York Yankees: Alex Rodriguez Homers For First Time Since June 18 (Video)

Alex Rodriguez gave the New York Yankees an early lead with a long second inning blast.

Well, that took a while. Alex Rodriguez, who has been virtually nonexistent, launched a long second inning homer off Kevin Gausman to give the New York Yankees a 1-0 lead at the time.

The blast left his bat at 108 mph and traveled 423 feet, landing in the bleachers as he earned the opportunity to take a slow trot for the first time in exactly one month.

If A-Rod gets going, multiple factors come into play. Individual accomplishments and production out of the middle of the Yankee lineup will both embark on an upward tilt.

His career home run total now sits at 696 as he looks to join the exclusive 700 club.

The Orioles promptly tied the game in the following frame on a Jonathan Schoop long ball. Catch the remainder of the contest on the YES Network.
