New York Knicks Sign Defensive Stopper J.P. Tokoto
The New York Knicks signed J.P. Tokoto to a partially guaranteed deal. After impressing in summer league, he’ll join them at training camp.
The New York Knicks announced on Monday, August 1, that they were signing summer league star Ron Baker to a partially guaranteed one-year deal. On Tuesday they expanded their training camp roster by inviting another player off their summer league roster.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, it was J.P. Tokoto.

Tokoto was drafted with the 58th overall pick in the 2015 draft by the Sixers but never played for the team.
[sc name=”Knicks Center” ]He spent all of the 2015-16 in the D-league with the Oklahoma City Blue. Tokoto is known for his defense, and struggled with his shot dating back to his college days.
The 22-year-old out of the University of North Carolina averaged 26.6 minutes, 11.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals with the Blue.
Knicks’ fans should expect to see him in Westchester this season. The team could use some defensive help.
