Dallas Cowboys owner, president and general manager, Jerry Jones, thanks the New York Giants for trading WR Odell Beckham Jr.
Last week, the New York Giants traded star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns in a shocking move. After the conclusion of the 2018 regular season, Giants GM Dave Gettleman stated that they “didn’t sign OBJ to trade him.” Big Blue had signed Beckham to a five-year, $95 million contract extension prior to the 2018 regular season.
In return, the Giants received a first-round pick (17th overall), a third-round pick, and safety Jabrill Peppers. The team now has two picks in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Now that Beckham is out of New York, Cowboys owner, president and general manager, Jerry Jones, is praising the Giants for trading away their elite receiver.
When asked about the trade prior to a boxing match at AT&T Stadium, Jones seemed pretty happy about the entire situation.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” Jones responded.

In seven games against the Cowboys in his career, Beckham has piled up 35 receptions for 477 yards and five touchdowns. One of those touchdowns, of course, was the spectacular one-handed touchdown catch during his rookie campaign in 2014. This was the play that essentially catapulted Beckham into superstardom.
As a member of the Browns (for however long that’ll be), the Cowboys will only have to worry about Beckham once every four seasons. The Browns and Cowboys don’t play each other until the 2020 regular season and haven’t matched up against each other since 2016.
A receiver the Cowboys will have to continue to worry about is new Giants WR Golden Tate. Tate signed a four-year deal with the Giants on Thursday after spending last season as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. The deal is worth $37 million, with $23 million guaranteed.
