Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield has never been shy about expressing himself. Thursday night, he made another bold statement.
Baker Mayfield knows he’s going to be playing in the NFL this year, the only question is for what team? If he has his way, he’ll be slinging passes to Kenny Stills and the rest of the Miami Dolphins’ receiving corps.
Stills was hosting an Instagram live video Thursday night when Mayfield popped up in his comments, dropping an insightful hashtag.

Mayfield, like Stills, played his college ball at the University of Oklahoma, so there’s a connection between the two there. And according to the Miami Herald‘s Adam H. Beasley, “The Dolphins want to draft a quarterback in April. They’re even open to taking one in the first round if he is the best player on their board.”
ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. released his first Mock Draft on Thursday, and he has Mayfield going to the Washington Redskins, who own the 13th pick—two spots below Miami, who have the 11th pick in the first round.
Odds are, the Heisman Trophy and Manning Award-winning gunslinger will be there for the taking when the Dolphins are on the clock.
It makes sense for Miami to take a QB in April’s three-day draft extravaganza.
Starter Ryan Tannehill will be entering his age-30 season and is coming off a major knee injury. Neither of his replacements, Jay Cutler nor Matt Moore, are real long-term answers at the position for the Fins.
One thing the Dolphins do have are some attractive targets for Mayfield to throw the ball to. Aside from Stills, the Dolphins have wideouts Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker, tight end Julius Thomas and running backs Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams, the latter—you guessed it—another Oklahoma product, just like Mayfield and Stills.
