After one season with the New York Knicks, point guard Derrick Rose is ready to compete for a championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he former MVP has had a rough time in recent years after tearing his ACL in 2012. It was announced Monday morning that the two sides had set up a face-to-face meeting.

Shams Charaina of Yahoo Sports was first with the report.

Just moments later, the details of the deal emerged, via Chris Haynes of ESPN:

In an attempt at boosting his current market value, Rose is expected to sign a one-year contract with the 2016 champions.

The franchise’s relationship with point guard Kyrie Irving has taken a toll in recent weeks after he requested a trade.

It’s still unclear if this move has anything to do with Irving, but Rose could very well end up starting in Cleveland.
