Daniel Camarena, Kellin Deglan, Francisco Diaz, J.P. Feyereisen, Brady Lail, Joe Mantiply, James Reeves, Nick Rumbelow, Evan Rutckyj, Jorge Saez and Justus Sheffield were the 11 players reassigned to minor league camp.[sc name=”Yankees Center Right” ]
The most notable cut has to be Sheffield, who had his locker cleared out by the time New York began its contest on Sunday. The left-hander pitched in two contests (3.2 IP) and struck out four while only letting up one run (2.45 ERA).
The 20-year-old wasn’t expected to break camp with the major league squad but certainly got the most out of his first camp in Tampa as he spent valuable time with fellow lefties CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte.
The Yankees now have 56 total players in camp, including Tyler Austin and the six playing in the World Baseball Classic.
