In recognition of his breakout season with the New York Knicks, Julius Randle will be heading to his first All-Star Game.

New York Knicks fans can finally take a deep breath because Julius Randle is an All-Star per Shams Charania of The Athletic. The seventh-year forward out of the University of Kentucky is in the midst of a remarkable turnaround from year one to year two with the Knicks.

This is the first All-Star for the organization since Kristaps Porzingis in 2017-18.

Entering Tuesday night’s game with the Golden State Warriors, Randle is averaging 23.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. But the shooting efficiency is even more surprising than the impressive box score stats.

Randle, 26, entered the season with career shooting splits of .493/.295/.724, but is posting splits of .481/.410/.805 in his second season with the Knicks. His upticks from three and at the free-throw line have helped propel Randle to new heights.

The Texas native will enter the pool of reserves for the All-Star Game, which is set to be held in Atlanta for a truncated All-Star weekend on March 7. LeBron James and Kevin Durant were both voted in as captains and will participate in a live draft on TNT (March 4, 8 p.m. ET).
