Head coach David Fizdale is leaning towards holding Dennis Smith out of the New York Knicks’ first preseason game.
New York Knicks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. is dealing with a lower back strain that kept him out of Saturday’s open practice. Now it appears as if the injury will keep Smith out of Monday’s preseason opener against the Washington Wizards (7:00 p.m. ET).
Dennis Smith Jr. (back) is likely out tomorrow against Washington, David Fizdale says.

The Knicks will host the Wizards on Friday (7:30 p.m. ET) which seems like a much more likely target for Smith’s preseason debut.
