Kristaps Porzingis is off to Dallas after his New York Knicks tenure ended abruptly. Kevin Durant is excited to see what’s next for Porzingis.

New York Knicks fans may have turned on Kristaps Porzingis, but there was no doubt he was a star in Madison Square Garden. Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant coined the nickname “The Unicorn” while Porzingis was turning heads with the Knicks.

Porzingis’ Knicks tenure is over and he’s starting fresh with the Dallas Mavericks. Durant is excited to see what Porzingis does alongside Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic. The superstar forward spoke with YouTuber See Hendo in a rare interview.

“I’m looking forward to seeing them two come together. I think they’ve got something going down there,” Durant said. “Mark Cuban is always going to support his guys and put them in the best position. That’s a franchise I’m definitely watching for the next few years.”

The Mavericks are one of the most intriguing teams in the NBA. Despite being stuck in a stacked Western Conference, they have one of the most exciting young duos in the NBA.

If Porzingis is healthy, he’s an All-Star and a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Prior to his ACL injury in early 2018, the 7-footer was leading the NBA with 2.4 blocks per game.

Not to mention, he was averaging 22.7 points per game on 39.5% from three-point range. He’s truly a unique talent even in a league with heaps of versatile players.

Doncic has already proved that he’s capable of being a star in this league. As a rookie, Doncic averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

Porzingis’ health remains a major concern for the Mavericks, but if he can stay healthy, the Mavericks will be very dangerous.
