Dennis Smith Jr. seems to be working hard on his game this offseason and New York Knicks fans will love his latest workout clip.

Throw it down, young fella.

Dennis Smith Jr. is making a conscious effort to improve his shot this summer, but we all know the New York Knicks floor general is best known for his dunks.

A veteran of two NBA dunk contests, Smith is no stranger to getting creative. The alley-oop-through-the-legs jam showcases some serious athleticism.

It’s highly unlikely we see Smith in another dunk contest, but that’s probably fine by most Knicks fans.

Not to mention, Mitchell Robinson should be a legitimate candidate for the dunk contest next February. He’ll likely be in Chicago for the Rising Stars Challenge anyway. Why not let the 7-footer show out for the orange and blue?

Of course, with DSJ it will always be about more than dunking. He has all the physical tools to be a top-notch point guard in the NBA. It’s about improving his outside shooting, passing, and defense.

If he can take major steps forward in those areas this year, the Knicks may have finally figured out the point guard position.

Smith was the only tangible return in the Kristaps Porzingis trade. In addition to Smith, the Knicks recouped future draft picks and salary-cap flexibility. After whiffing in their first crack at free agency, the need for Smith to perform becomes more important.

They’re hoping Smith can fill a position that has given the Knicks issues for the better part of two decades.
