Highly-touted draft prospect Jarrett Culver was all confidence after his Wednesday workout with the New York Knicks.

Jarrett Culver is widely seen as a top-five talent in the upcoming NBA draft. The Texas Tech product had a workout with the New York Knicks on Wednesday and he was brimming with confidence afterward.

Culver spoke with the media and specifically discussed why his defense separates him from the rest of his peers.

“I can come in and make an impact [on] defense and offense,” Culver said emphatically. “I feel like I’m an elite two-way player so just having that I feel like I can come in and have an impact.”

In the Knicks’ dream scenario where they sign two superstars in free agency, Culver would actually be a nice fit. His defense should play immediately at the next level and playing alongside multiple stars would allow his offensive game to develop in time.

That being said, it’s hard to see the Knicks passing on RJ Barrett at No. 3. It’s nothing against Culver, but Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, and RJ Barrett all appear to be locks to go in the top three picks.

However, Culver believes that he has one thing that will push him over the top in The Association. His willingness to defend is something that Culver takes pride in.

“Nowadays, it’s hard to find people who take pride in defense, but I’m one of ’em,” Culver responded when asked if his defense separates him from other top prospects. “I take pride in defense and being at Texas Tech taught me a lot. I feel like on that defensive side, I’m elite.”

It’s unlikely that Culver will land in New York. It’s hard to envision Culver jumping any of the top three prospects right now. The only plausible scenario where the Knicks might end up drafting Culver would involve a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Either way, Culver is an exciting prospect with a bright future ahead of him.
