Kevin Knox’s future is bright, but there’s at least one NBA team keeping tabs on the New York Knicks forward.

Kevin Knox is one of the most important young players on the New York Knicks. However, at least one other NBA team is keeping tabs on the swingman. According to Ian Begley of SNY, the New Orleans Pelicans are “gathering intel” on Knox.

“Some people in the Pelicans organization were quietly gathering some intel on Knox recently, sources told SNY,” wrote Begley. “Now, it’s common for teams to gather information on players. That’s part of the job of the front office/scouting department. But the uncertainty surrounding Davis’ future in New Orleans makes their information-gathering on Knox (which was happening before Griffin took over) intriguing.”

Obviously, it’s still too early to know whether or not the Knicks and Pelicans will re-engage on a possible Anthony Davis trade. That being said, what happens on the NBA Draft Lottery could play a major factor in a potential trade.

If the Knicks land the first overall pick—Zion Williamson—the Pelicans might be motivated to make a deal with New York. However, according to Begley, there is no consensus among the Knicks organization on what to do with their first-round pick.

If the Knicks do decide to pursue a Davis trade, they have no shortage of assets. In addition to Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Allonzo Trier, Damyean Dotson, and Frank Ntilikina are all intriguing young players. Moreover, the Kristaps Porzingis trade netted a trove of draft picks that the Knicks could eventually flip in a deal.

Plain and simple, the Knicks will have options this summer.
