Kemba Walker is one of the free agents who no one is talking about, but the New York Knicks have him on their radar.

The New York Knicks are in the rare position where they have enough cap space to sign two max free agents. It’s clear that they will covet guys like Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, and Kyrie Irving. However, according to Ian Begley of SNY, some in the organization are high on Kemba Walker.

“It’s also worth noting here that some in the Knicks organization are high on fellow free agent point guard Kemba Walker, sources say,” wrote Begley.

This is significant, but it’s still far too early to tell how free agency will shake out. One would have to believe the Knicks will prioritize landing Durant or Leonard. If the Knicks can somehow manage to land one of the two, Walker would make for an outstanding running mate.

Walker, 29, is coming off of his third straight All-Star appearance and the best season of his career. He averaged 25.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game.

Moreover, he did it on a team without much talent. The Charlotte Hornets finished the year with a record of 39-43 despite Walker’s remarkable play.

Much has been made about Irving, a New Jersey native, returning home to play for the Knicks or Nets. People forget that Walker was a legendary New York City high school player for Rice. Walker may want to return to play for his hometown Knicks.

With so many incredible talents on the free agent market, it’s imperative that the Knicks land the right ones.
