Kevin Durant’s real estate listing might excite some New York Knicks fans, but it’s important to keep things in perspective.

According to Neil J. Leitereg of the Los Angeles Times, Kevin Durant has listed his Malibu home on the market. The listing is for $13.495 million after Durant paid $12.05 for the home last year.

Of course, this story isn’t about real estate. This is about fans and media alike reading the tea leaves. New York Knicks fans certainly hope this means Durant is looking to make a move to the Big Apple this summer, but it’s important to keep expectations in check.

For one, the first round of the NBA playoffs hasn’t even finished yet. We are a long way from free agency. It’s possible that Durant still has no idea where he wants to sign in the offseason.

However, fans are ravenous for any and all information regarding potential free agents this summer. A real estate listing is one of those strange stories that tend to pique the interest of fans.

That being said, two of New York’s main free agent targets, Durant and Kyrie Irving, are still alive in the NBA playoffs and could be destined for a meeting in the NBA Finals.

Durant and the Golden State Warriors are on the verge of dismissing the Los Angeles Clippers—another potential landing spot for KD. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics just swept the Indiana Pacers. They are preparing to face off with the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

In other words, while Knicks fans could be looking for every possible clue in free agency, a lot can change between now and July.
