According to current NBA players, the New York Knicks appear to be the clear frontrunner to sign Kevin Durant this offseason.

Once again, the NBA offseason will revolve around Kevin Durant. Despite a stacked free agent class including Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, and Jimmy Butler, Durant is clearly the big fish most teams are angling to reel in.

According to a poll of NBA players conducted by Sam Amick of The Athletic, 63.3 percent of 109 players believe Durant will sign with the New York Knicks. The general consensus seems to be that KD will end up in the Big Apple.

Other notable teams checking in on the list are the Golden State Warriors with 20.2 percent of the vote, the Brooklyn Nets with 4.5 percent, and the Los Angeles Clippers with 2.7 percent.

All four teams will have the cap space and motivation to make a play for KD in July. Obviously, Durant could decide that he’s comfortable with the Warriors and wants to keep the dynasty intact.

Nevertheless, the Knicks make perfect sense for Durant. He can join another superstar like Irving or Butler, he can bring a championship to Madison Square Garden, and he can pursue his off-the-court ventures in New York. The Knicks are finishing the 2018-19 season with the worst record in the league. Perhaps KD could be the driving force in their remarkable turnaround.

That being said, no one really knows what Durant will do this offseason. To be honest, he might not even know where he plans to sign yet. Golden State’s playoff run could play a factor into his eventual decision.
