New York Knicks rookie Kevin Knox is making friends around the league fast. He’s already training with ex-Knick point guard Rod Strickland.

Kevin Knox is already a hit among New York Knicks fans. His flashy play in NBA Summer League earned him nicknames and t-shirts galore as he starred on NBA Twitter. After an impressive showing in Vegas, Knox is going through the always important NBA tradition of boasting about your offseason workouts on social media.

In Knox’s case, he posted a picture to his own Twitter account with former Knicks first-round pick Rod Strickland.

A photo with Strickland is particularly notable for Knicks fans due to Strickland being Kyrie Irving’s godfather. New York is expected to target Irving next summer in free agency.  Strickland’s generally viewed as one of the best comparisons to Irving’s typically unique game.

Strickland played his rookie season in New York before being traded out of town in his second year to San Antonio. He played for nine different teams over the course of his 17-year career.

Knox befriending a veteran player like Strickland is a good sign about his personality. Clearly, he wants to learn, and Strickland has a coaching background as an assistant of John Calipari, so this was a good great move by the young star.
