The Tampa Bay Lightning are taking home-ice advantage to another level. They’ve instituted a dress code for the Eastern Conference Finals.

Washington Capitals fans heading to Florida for the Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning might want to rethink what goes in their suitcases. For neither Capitals jerseys nor the color red will be granted entry.

Gabrielle McMillen of the Sporting News reported that Washington Capitals fans attending all home Tampa Bay games will not be allowed to wear red or anything with the team’s logo if their seats are in the Lightning’s Lexus Lounge, which includes seats against the glass, or in the Chase Club luxury suites.

Fans who attend the game and have tickets for seats in the dress code sections will be asked to remove the apparel prior to taking their seats. “It’s just an added measure to keep our building as blue as possible,” said Bill Wickett, vice president of communications for the Lightning.

Tampa Bay has also restricted the sale of tickets to their home games to Florida residents only. Tampa Bay will not allow anyone who doesn’t reside in Florida to purchase a ticket through the team site or Ticketmaster.

Fans who purchase tickets outside of Florida will have their order canceled without notice and refunds will be issued.

Good luck Caps fans heading into Game 1, the first Eastern Conference Finals appearance your team has made in 20 years. A Lightning strike might just take the shirt right off your back.
