The NFL’s MVP Award will be handed out Saturday night. But it looks as if the results may have already leaked.
Congratulations to New England’s Tom Brady for winning the 2018 NFL MVP Award! Wait a minute—that announcement isn’t supposed to be made until Saturday night.
At a New England Patriots press event on Thursday, an unidentified person standing to the side had in his hand a document titled “Tom Brady Acceptance Speech.” as you can see in a tweet from Brad E. Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald.
Brady, who has already won two NFL MVP Awards—along with five Lombardi Trophies and four Super Bowl MVP Awards—put together another MVP-worthy season in 2017.
Aside from leading the Patriots to a 13-3 record and a ninth-straight AFC East championship, Brady led the NFL in passing yards (4,577) and was third in both touchdown passes (32) and quarterback rating (102.8).
He’ll be making his eighth appearance in the Super Bowl on Sunday night in Super Bowl 52 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Brady and his New England Patriots made it to this year’s Super Bowl after a dramatic, come from behind 24-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game, scoring two touchdowns in the final quarter.
Brady has only lost twice in the big game, both times to Eli Manning and the New York Giants.
The seventh edition of “The NFL Honors” will be broadcast at 9 p.m. ET on NBC and the NFL Network. Not only will all of the NFL Awards be handed out, including MVP and both Offensive and Defense Rookie of the Year, but the 2018 Hall of Fame class will be introduced.
Super Bowl 52 will be played on Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The Patriots are 4.5-point favorites over the Eagles.
