The New York Knicks pay tribute to New York City firefighters with these fresh Nike City Edition uniforms.
The New York Knicks finally revealed their Nike City Edition uniforms on Wednesday. The jerseys pay tribute to New York City firefighters and their families.
The uniforms are a dark shade of blue. They have a firefighters logo in orange in the center instead of New York. The firefighters’ logo includes the words Knicks and New York and has a picture of a ladder and fire hydrant.
According to the Knicks website, the Knicks will debut their City edition uniforms on January 30, when they play the Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden. After that, they will wear the jerseys for six weekend home games.
At the games the uniforms are worn, the Knicks will donate tickets to local firefighters and provide a special game night experience. In addition to the uniforms, the team honoring New York City firefighters with the first ever New York Knicks 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. The stair climb will take place before the Knicks play the Detriot Pistons on Mar. 31. The climb will be open to 343 participants, which is how many FDNY firefighters were lost on 9/11.
