Buffalo Bills radio voice John Murphy joins Schwartz on Sports to discuss the NFL Playoffs as the tournament drought in Orchard Park is over.

17 seasons.

That’s how many seasons came and went for football fans in Western New York without seeing its beloved Buffalo Bills participating in the NFL’s postseason. But that drought ended on Sunday when the Bills won their regular season finale in Miami while the Bengals stunned the Ravens in Baltimore setting off quite the celebration by the Bills and their fans.

Longtime Buffalo Bills play-by-play voice John Murphy has been along for the ride and joins Schwartz on Sports as he gets ready to call his first Bills playoff game. He joined the Bills broadcast team in 1984 as the color analyst working with legendary Bills voice Van Miller. After the 2003 season, Miller retired and Murphy slid over one chair to become the new voice of the Bills.

For me, having Murphy here on the podcast is very special because he was a tremendous mentor to me when I was a student at Buffalo State College from 1985 to 1989. I’m proud to call him a friend and I couldn’t be happier for him and the entire Western New York community that the Bills are finally back in the playoffs.
