The New York Knicks will play five games during the 2017-18 preseason. Not surprisingly, there will be a little drama.

The New York Knicks released their 2017-18 preseason schedule on Tuesday. It contains five games; three at home and two on the road. One road game is at the Barclays Center.

Via Twitter @IanBegley:

New York opens up at home against the Brooklyn Nets in the first game of a home-and-home set that’s completed later on Oct. 8.

They travel to Washington and take on the Wizards in their second home-and-home on Oct. 6 which they wrap up precisely a week later at MSG.

There will be a little drama at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 9 when the Knicks face the Rockets. Carmelo Anthony will make his not-so-triumphant return with the Houston Rockets, or he’ll awkwardly still be with the Knicks after months of attempting to move to Houston.

The preseason should provide a good test for rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina. He’ll get a chance to show off his defense against superstars like John Wall and Chris Paul. Also, matching up with fellow NYC youngster D’Angelo Russell will be an important storyline.

Speaking of Ntilikina, the first-round pick is about as anonymous to his peers as he is to NBA fans.

NBA.com released a survey of NBA rookies and Dennis Smith Jr. won Rookie of the Year. Frank didn’t receive a single vote in any category.

Ian Begley reports that people around the Knicks say this kind of stuff is motivational for the 19-year-old.
