ESPN’s Pablo Torre reported that All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving badly wants to play for the New York Knicks.

There was a shockwave felt around the NBA when news broke that Kyrie Irving requested a trade out of Cleveland. Up next it was former New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose who jumped ship to the Cavs.

The latest development comes from ESPN’s Pablo Torre.

Torre commented on “First Take” that the 25-year-old “very badly” wants to be a Knick.

Kyrie wanting to play for the rebuilding Knicks instead of the Cavaliers seems crazy. Irving is leaving the best player in the NBA, LeBron James. The second best player in NBA history.

Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports says that Kyrie is interested in playing with Kristaps Porzingis and being featured in Jeff Hornacek’s up-tempo offense. It could have to do with Irving only just wanting to be the man and coming home.

This could all be irrelevant anyway.

ESPN’s Ian Begley reported Wednesday that Carmelo Anthony isn’t interested in waiving his no-trade clause to go anywhere but Houston, and it’s hard to imagine the Cavs accepting a trade from New York without getting Anthony back.

The drama continues in this wild NBA summer of 2017.
