According to Ian Begley of ESPN, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony’s top destination in a trade is still the Houston Rockets.

Kyrie Irving being traded to the New York Knicks always seemed unlikely. The only asset New York can offer is Carmelo Anthony, and he only has one destination in mind, and it isn’t Cleveland.

According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, Anthony’s “top destination in any trade remains the Houston Rockets.” The previous reports of a Melo-for-Kevin Love swap that spread like wildfire during the season seem like a lifetime ago.

A lot’s changed since then. Love isn’t on the trade block anymore. Irving put himself there.

Now, Anthony, is 100 percent focused on Houston. The ten-time All-Star seems like a better fit for the Cavs with a certain path to the NBA Finals, but the uncertain futures of Irving and LeBron James make them less appealing.

The 33-year-old is ready to team up with Chris Paul and James Harden instead. Even an awkward reunion with Mike D’Antoni isn’t steering him away from Houston.

In 74 games in the 2016-17 season, Anthony averaged 34.3 minutes, 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks on a slash line of .433/.359/.833.
