Would New York Knicks‘ Carmelo Anthony join the OKC Thunder? A new rumor has emerged suggesting the two parties are “circling each other.”

Another day in New York Knicks news, another Carmelo Anthony trade rumor. This one involves the Oklahoma City Thunder of all teams. According to The Ringer’s Bill Simmons, Anthony and Oklahoma City are “circling each other.”

Per Simmons, Anthony’s connection to the Thunder is Troy Weaver. While he’s currently the vice president and assistant general manager in Oklahoma City, Weaver was an assistant coach at Syracuse University while Anthony played. He was involved in Anthony’s recruiting as the two have known each other since Anthony was in Baltimore.

It’s hard to imagine the ten-time All-Star joining the small market Thunder. It goes against everything we know about him. Then again, he’d be teaming up with Russell Westbrook and Paul George.

That duo would be better than any two players Anthony would have on the Knicks in 2017-18. If Anthony cares about winning more than anything else, he’d choose OKC over New York. Unfortunately, we’ve known that to not be the case for the 33-year-old.

All the evidence suggests that Anthony remains committed to a trade to Houston. If the two sides can’t get something done the star scorer may have to move on. Oklahoma City could have Melo fall right into their lap.

That’s what happened with Paul George. Don’t count out the Thunder.
