It’s the latest development of the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes, and the Portland Trailblazers back court feels comfortable they’ll emerge victorious.

One of the NBA’s best back courts, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, haven’t been shy with their recruitment of the New York Knicks’ ten time All Star.

McCollum, the 2016 Most Improved Player recipient, even went as far as to photoshop Anthony in a Portland uniform.

Tuesday afternoon, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said on The Jump that Portland was not something Anthony was interested in “right now.”

That may have all taken a behind the scenes shift, based on the enthusiasm in Portland.

Damian Lillard held a basketball camp earlier today and spoke to many reporters regarding the possibility of a Carmelo trade. While McCollum agreed that Anthony was “interested,” Lillard went as far as to say that it’s “a real possibility” he makes the move to Portland.

Following the camp, McCollum added an interesting statement when speaking to SiriusXM NBA Radio.

He didn’t stop there, as Casey Holdahl, of Blazers.com added that McCollum humorously remarked “hashtag free Melo,” at the end of the interview.

Originally brought in as a third team to facilitate a Carmelo trade to the Houston Rockets, Portland realized their assets would be more than enough to obtain the forward from New York directly.

The Trailblazers back court is certainly doing everything they can to recruit Anthony, but it will take a waive of his no trade clause to really get the ball rolling.
