According to Marc Spears of ESPN, ex-Cavs GM David Griffin removed his name from consideration for the same job with the New York Knicks.

The New York Knicks had a youth movement in place and they were going to hire LeBron James’ guy to run it. Even if some of the fans were foolish enough not to respect the work Griffin did with the Cavs. Unfortunately, that chance will never come because the Knicks screwed it up.

According to Marc Spears of ESPN, Griffin has pulled his name out of the search for the job.

Things looked good as recently as yesterday between the New York Knicks and former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin. LeBron James’ guy was dining with Steve Mills and planning to meet with James Dolan.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the two sides were “moving toward opening contract talks.” It looks like that “stumbling block” may have gotten in the way.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks didn’t want Griffin to have authority over basketball decisions or let him bring in his own staff.

Whatever it was, David Griffin will not be the next man in charge of the Knicks. As of now, it’s still Steve Mills. Not LeBron James’ guy, but James Dolan’s guy. Is that what you Knicks fans really prefer?
