Former New York Giants’ quarterback Ryan Nassib is on the verge of inking a deal which will send him to the New Orleans Saints.

Former New York Giants‘ quarterback Ryan Nassib is likely heading to the big easy.

According to Ian Rapoport, the New Orleans Saints and the Syracuse product are expected to unite to bring the four-year quarterback to the big easy.

The Giants traded up in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft to select Nassib. Nassib, though, played a limited amount of downs in his time with big blue.

By not appearing in a single game his rookie year and seeing the field just twice from 2014-2015, Nassib was given little to no opportunity to showcase himself to the Giants and the rest of the NFL. Last year though, Nassib eliminated any chance for him to do so with his underwhelming preseason play.

Finishing the preseason with just a 41.3% completion rate, Nassib did himself no favors, in regards to impressing the Giants’ coaching staff. That ultimately lead to him riding the bench in the 2016 season, but then things got even worse for Nassib traps the end of the 2016 regular season.

Already not appearing in a single game, Nassib was placed on the injured reserve with a sore right elbow in late December, ending his season. The Giants then ultimately sealed his are with them by making three transactions at the quarterback position.

By re-signing Josh Johnson, as well as bringing in former New York Jets‘ quarterback Geno Smith and drafting California quarterback Davis Webb in the third round of the draft, the Giants opted to go in a different direction behind Manning; those moves indicated that Nassib was likely a goner.

After the season-ending blow, Nassib will look to bounce back this year under Sean Payton’s Saints.

While he won’t be playing any starting downs – barring injury of course – Nassib will still have the opportunity to expand his arsenal with future of hall of fame quarterback Drew Brees in front of him.
