As Peter Schwartz so eloquently points out, the great thing about New York City is its diversity. This applies not only on the streets of Manhattan, but when it comes to Big Apple sports too.

Enter AVP Beach Volleyball which is coming to the city this week.

The AVP Pro Tour will make its only East Coast stop at the unique setting of the Hudson River Piers.

The four-day competition will feature the top, professional beach volleyball athletes competing for the title and prize money. Athletes participating are two-time AVP champion and New Jersey native Ryan Doherty, two-time Olympic medalist April Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.), four-time Olympian and indoor volleyball sensation Reid Priddy (Richmond, Va.); and partners Nick Lucena (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) with Olympic gold medalist Phil Dalhausser (Ventura, Calif.)
