The New York Knicks could have the perfect trade partner for a Carmelo Anthony deal in the Detroit Pistons.

The front office for the Knicks is currently weighing two pressing issues this summer: the NBA Draft and Carmelo Anthony. They might be able to kill two birds with one stone.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Detroit Pistons are “open to discussing trades” for their No. 12 pick if it means getting back a win-now veteran. That veteran could be Carmelo Anthony.

Ian Begley of ESPN New York stated two weeks ago that New York was interested in obtaining another lottery pick.

Since then, the team has been attached to North Carolina forward Justin Jackson. The reigning ACC POY will reportedly work out for the Knicks on June 13.

With that 12th pick, they’d be able to scoop up Jackson. He’s currently projected as a late lottery selection.

Of course, this is all hypothetical. Melo would need to approve a trade to Detroit. His buddy Kobe Bryant wasn’t willing to do it, and that’s when the Pistons were good.
