Ball’s shoes were made independently, and not by a shoe company. Last week Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas told LaVar that they weren’t interested in having a deal with Lonzo, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.
“We’ve said from the beginning, we aren’t looking for an endorsement deal,” LaVar told ESPN. “We’re looking for co-branding, a true partner. But they’re not ready for that because they’re not used to that model. But hey, the taxi industry wasn’t ready for Uber, either.”
Lonzo played one year for UCLA before declaring for the NBA draft. He is projected to be one of the top three picks in this year’s draft, which takes place June 22.
