New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony will replace the injured Kevin Love for the Eastern Conference in the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans.

A knee injury to Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love opened up a roster spot on the Eastern Conference team in the NBA All-Star Game. On Wednesday, Marc Stein of ESPN reported that New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony was named Love’s replacement.

Since experiencing an All-Star snub when the reserves were announced on Jan. 26, Anthony has been on a tear. In 9 games he’s averaged 25.9 points and 6.2 rebounds on a slash line of .452/.345/.756.

Anthony joins teammates Kristaps Porzingis and Willy Hernangomez at All-Star weekend. Porzingis is making his second straight trip to All-Star Weekend and will compete in both the Skills Challenge and the Rising Stars Challenge. Hernangomez was named as an injury replacement in the Rising Stars Challenge for Denver Nuggets point guard Emmanuel Mudiay.

It’s Anthony’s 10th appearance at the NBA All-Star Game.
