The New York Knicks once looked like they’d be one of the top-four seeds in the East. Now, this team is falling apart at the seams.

The New York Knicks need Life Alert because they have fallen and can’t get up. They have been blown out each of their last two matchups, the latest coming at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans, 110-96.

The loss marked their eighth defeat in the last 10 contests. It also marks the fourth straight loss at home. It appears like they have hit rock bottom.

They look like a team that has no fire in them. Every night it seems they are facing an uphill climb, which is due to their porous defense.

To make matters worst, it appears that there are issues inside the locker room, especially with Derrick Rose being a no-show in Monday night’s loss.

The New York Knicks are a mess right now. They need somebody to emerge as a leader to pull this team together. That somebody has to be Carmelo Anthony.

During the Summer Olympics in Rio, Anthony was the leader of the national team. He received praise for his leadership role he took on as team USA won gold.

Now the New York Knicks need Anthony to bring that leadership to this team, to help bring them together to get out of their recent funk.

Not only does he need to lead off the court but on it as well. He may be playing with a hurt shoulder, which might be affecting his shot. But does a hurt shoulder prevent you from playing defense?

Anthony needs to set the tone defensively. If he plays defense with a tenacity, it will send a message to his teammates and they will follow his lead. And if not he needs to hold his teammates accountable like other superstar players do.

Last week Anthony said, “Regardless of what happens when we win, it’s us. When we lose, it’s me. So I accept that,” via Ian Begley of ESPN New York. He is right on the money with this statement. And now that they are losing a huge amount of blame is on him and rightfully so.

He is the so-called superstar and superstars are the ones that pull teams out of slumps.

The New York Knicks are falling apart right in front of our eyes. The only way it will change is if this team comes together and pushes through the difficult time. Anthony has all eyes on him to rally his team and get them moving in the right direction.
