It’s official: New York Knicks president Phil Jackson and his better half, Los Angeles Lakers queen Jeanie Buss, have called it quits.

To the dismay of many and the delight of few, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson and Los Angeles Lakers queen have officially called it quits on their long-lasting engagement.

Each party confirmed the news via Twitter.

Both wrote along the same lines as the other. Buss, while professing a deep love for Jax, called it unfair to allow her attention to be divided between her organization and the 13-time NBA Champion.

Jackson cited the geographical obstacles as part of their downfall.

The two got engaged in December of 2012, according to Darren Rovell and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. They had started dating in 1999 when Jackson was coaching Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and the rest of the Lakers.

There have been numerous reports about Jackson’s bolt from the Knickerbockers prior to his five-year deal ended. Perhaps this signals the Zen Master in it for the long-haul.
