Dwyane Wade & Derrick Rose join Carmelo Anthony for Thanksgiving dinner

Thanksgiving at Carmelo Anthony’s home had no shortage of food or stars as Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose joined the fun for Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanksgiving at the Anthony household had no shortage of food or basketball-playing stars. In a joining of “what could have been,” New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony played host on Thanksgiving to Chicago Bulls past and present when current Knick and former Bull Derrick Rose and one of the newest members of the Chicago Bulls Dwyane Wade joined Melo at his New York home for dinner.

With D-Rose growing up in Chicago and also spending the first eight years of his career there, his family remains in the Chicago area.

“But being around the people I was around yesterday, it didn’t matter. They made me feel like I was home,” Rose said, via ESPN.

For the second straight year, Wade and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, joined Carmelo and Alani Nicole “La La” Anthony at their home for a thanksgiving that featured four different types of turkeys.

Unlike last season, when the Heat played the Knicks the day after Thanksgiving, putting Wade in the right place at the right time, Wade was in Philadelphia with the Bulls. Rather than fighting traffic to get back to Philadelphia for the Bulls Friday match-up against the 76ers, Wade and Union arrived to the dinner via helicopter. Not bad.

“I was happy to get a home-cooked meal,” said Wade. “It was cool. Last year (the Heat) were in New York so I was able to have Thanksgiving with the Anthony’s, me and my wife, and this year because we were so close we were able to go up there again.”

Sports have always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Born in Queens, New York, I took to the Mets and the Jets at a young age, and actually have a video of myself reciting the 1986 Mets 25-man roster at age 3. Covering New York Sports is a dream come true. After attending the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, I was able to fully realise my potential of turning my liking for sports into a career that I love.
