Of all people who could pop up and provide Johnny Manziel with advice, New York Mets great Dwight Gooden became that man recently.
If you had to choose one person who’d be picked last to provide embattled NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel with advice, it would be New York Mets legend Dwight Gooden.
But that’s exactly what happened on the Dan Patrick Show recently.
Gooden, who’s recently been called out by former teammate Darryl Strawberry has needing serious help with his addiction problem, chimed in on a similar situation in the NFL:
The highlighted question about Doc, himself, surrounded needing cocaine while playing. Dwight responded in glowing fashion when explaining that he didn’t use while pitching.
“That’s something I’m really proud of, Gooden said to Patrick. “I’ve never used drugs during the game, while pitching.”
As it relates to Manziel, Gooden spoke about how it doesn’t matter what happens around Manziel. Until he’s ready to commit to getting clean, nothing will help.
