New York Knicks‘ Carmelo Anthony took some time out from his Olympic schedule to visit the favelas and play a pickup game with some kids.
Carmelo Anthony played well for USA Basketball through the preliminary round of the 2016 Olympics. He was second on the team in minutes through the first five games, logging 26.0 per contest.
Anthony is shooting for his record fourth gold medal and there’s pressue on the veteran leader to succeed in the medal round.
Before he got down to business, Melo decided to visit the favelas in Rio and hang out with some of the local kids.
The 9-time All-Star made the day of some of his fans, playing in a pickup game.
This wasn’t Melo’s only experience in the notoriously dangerous favelas.
He spent some time with a graffiti artist, who created a mural of the Knicks superstar.
