Cap Flexibility

Right now Jax’s Knicks have a little over $37 million in cap space. This is with Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick Rose, Kyle O’Quinn, and Justin Holiday on the books.

The only players on the books following the 2016-17 NBA season are Melo, KP and O’Quinn. This means Phil Jackson positioned the Knicks to have the cleanest cap in all of The Association.

Make no mistake about it: When Kevin Durant is looking at potential suitors, having this cap flexibility widens the eyes. It means a limitless pool of possibilities for the few select stars and the pieces that would eventually be plugged in around them.

Jackson has positioned the Knicks correctly and tremendously in this regard.
