Word around the NBA campfire is that Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks will attempt to lure free agent guard DeMar DeRozan to MSG.

Yes folks, it is now officially NBA season.

Not the actual NBA season that saw 82 regular season games per team that eventually ended up with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers hoisting the NBA Championship.

We’re talking about the real NBA season, the NBA rumor season the entire world always becomes intrigued with.

No other time period during the calendar year can compete with free agency season in the NBA, and when it comes to the New York Knicks, things get even more interesting.

The latest rumor has Phil Jackson incredibly intrigued with free agent guard DeMar DeRozan.

According to Sam Amick of USA Today, the Knicks are one of several teams who will, indeed, make a run at the Toronto Raptors off-guard. The other teams Amick listed are the Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Clippers.

It’ll be tough prying DeRozan away, though. A recent report from Tim MacMahon of ESPN has DeRozan extremely focused on agreeing to terms with the Raptors on a long-term deal.

DeRozan is coming off an All-Star campaign that saw him put up a career high 23.5 points per game on .446 shooting from the floor.
