New York Knicks

Even with Phil Jackson traveling across the country, the New York Knicks have, indeed, contacted Frank Vogel about their vacant HC position.

With most of the talk as of late surrounding Phil Jackson’s vacation habits, the New York media has certainly been in an uproar.

Why not? The New York Knicks are still – on May 6 of 2016 – without a head coach.

Thus, when the boss takes cross-country trips and starts tweeting photos, conversations will ignite.

Larry Bird and the Indiana Pacers not retaining head coach Frank Vogel only poured more gasoline onto the heavy flame that is the Jax conversation around these parts.

With most believing Kurt Rambis is already getting ready to be named the permanent head coach, the question of whether or not Jackson would even speak with Vogel started to make the rounds.

It turns out, the Knicks have.

According to Marc Berman and Fred Kerber of the New York Post, Knicks general manager Steve Mills did preliminary due diligence in contacting Vogel’s reps.

“I think the Knicks wanted to see where Frank’s head is at,” the source said.

Jackson has made mention of only hiring a guy who he is familiar with. Vogel somewhat fits that mold as he was the advanced scout for Phil’s 2006 Los Angeles Lakers.

Only time will tell whether or not Vogel becomes a serious candidate.
