New York Knicks: Melo Trade Rumors Surround Matchup With Los Angeles Clippers

The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers could collaborate this summer on a blockbuster trade featuring multiple stars.

  • New York Knicks (27-39)
  • Los Angeles Clippers (41-22)
  • Friday, March 11, 10:30 PM on MSG, NBA TV
  • Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA

The New York Knicks‘ matchup tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers has a different vibe surrounding it. Carmelo Anthony would only waive his no-trade clause to a few teams, and the Clippers are allegedly one of them.

Although he made news recently by saying he wanted to help recruit free agents, Anthony’s name will undoubtedly linked as a trade partner to several teams in the offseason.

Anthony is a big city guy who loves the fame and attention that comes from playing in a big market. During his free agency he visited cities like Chicago, Dallas, and of course Los Angeles. It could be a perfect match, for both teams.

The other superstar at the center of the Melo/Clippers blockbuster is Blake Griffin, currently out with a hand injury suffered after hitting a member of the team’s equipment staff in the face. Jock picking on the nerd, so yeah he’s probably not a nice guy. But he’s a great player.

Doc Rivers holds all the power with the Clippers and he has said that if his team were to fall short again this season, he’d consider trading one of their big three. Griffin would be the logical choice.

Chris Paul is a great point guard and you don’t trade a great point guard in a point guard’s league. DeAndre Jordan anchors the defense, which becomes unbearable with him off the court. That leaves Griffin.

Unfortunately Griffin won’t be playing tonight, but it will be interesting to see what type of response Clippers’ fans give Anthony.
