New York Knicks 128, Phoenix Suns 97: Recap, Tweets, Highlights

Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, and the rest of the New York Knicks blew out the Phoenix Suns in a much needed win on Wednesday.

  • New York Knicks 128 (27-39)
  • Phoenix Suns 97 (17-47)

The New York Knicks needed to beat the Phoenix Suns. Their confidence was shot after starting out their West Coast road trip with an embarrassing loss against the Denver Nuggets. Tonight’s game was perfect timing, and a spark came from a very unlikely source.

With Arron Afflalo (strained right abdominal muscle) sitting out, Sasha Vujacic got the start in his place. Vujacic rose to the challenge, hitting 6 threes in a 23 point outburst. Not surprisingly, Carmelo Anthony had a good shooting game (23 pts, 9-15 FG) but Kristaps Porzingis struggled again making just 2 of his 10 shot attempts.

The most encouraging part of tonight’s blowout was 28 minutes of action for Jerian Grant. The rookie scored 14 points, dropping 4 assists, on 6 of 9 shooting in one of his better performances. No matter the situation, Grant should be encouraged by what he did tonight.

Even Kurt Rambis couldn’t screw up a game against the Phoenix Suns. They’re that bad. A win is a win, but the Knicks shouldn’t be celebrating to hard about this one.

The Knicks won’t have it quite as easy on Friday when they face a much more difficult road test, against the Los Angeles Clippers.
