With the January transfer window upon us, there is no doubt that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will look at the possibility of adding to his squad.

However, many of the big time players are rarely available mid-season and clubs often struggle to find strong money for value deals. Van Gaal has stated in the past that conducting a transfer is a difficult process and depends upon a lot of factors.

So, here are five options that are not necessarily big names, but would add quality and depth to the United ranks as the season progresses.
