For the first time in several years, you could describe a New York Knicks win as “gutty.” What Carmelo Anthony and his boys did tonight was battle down the last second against a quality Toronto Raptors team.
Their battle was good enough to come away with a solid 111-109 victory over the reigning Atlantic Division champions.

What was beautiful was how the Knicks played so in sync. All in all, it was a total team effort.
Melo led the way – as he usually does – with 25 points on 10-of-23 shooting. He didn’t force many shots and felt comfortable in passing up a potential shot for an even better shot for a teammate.
Lance Thomas turned out to be the hero. Thomas, who’s now officially taken over many of Derrick Williams’s minutes, played so well he was on the floor in favor of Kristaps Porzingis during crunch-time. He finished with 17 points and three boards in 22 big minutes.
KP wasn’t to be outdone, however. Once again, he further trademarked the put-back dunk:
The Knicks now even their record at 4-4 with this, their second straight victory. They only trail the division leading Raptors by a single game.
Next up for the Knickerbockers will be the Hornets in Charlotte on Wednesday night.
