Every other report you hear about football players is how this player got arrested or this player is being accused of abusing a girlfriend or wife.

So what does the NFL do when a player asks if he can wear pink the rest of the season in honor of his mother who passed away from breast cancer?  Well they said no of course.  Why would you want to send a positive message to the world.

ESPN’s Field Yates reported today that DeAngelo Williams petitioned the league to allow himself to wear pink the rest of the season and was turned down.

Leave it to the NFL to deny a player the right to honor his mother in order to make sure everyone is uniform and doesn’t stand out for all the right reasons?

Luckily Williams get creative and has died the tips of his hair pink in her honor.  Good for Williams to use this platform to honor his mother and breast cancer all season.  The league should be looking to help players portray a positive message and not hold them back.
