As NBA training camps begin this week, New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony says that he’s fully healed from his left knee injury he suffered last season.

Anthony mentioned on Sunday at his youth baskebtall camp at Baruch College in Manhattan on how he feels great mentally and physically and that he is ready to play basketball again this season, via Ian Begley of ESPN New York.

Anthony missed the second half of last season after having surgery to repair a patella tendon in his left knee in late February. Without their best player’s services, the Knicks suffered through the worst season in franchise history, with a 17-65 record and finishing with the second worst record in the NBA. Anthony has no medical restriction on his knee heading into training camp which starts Tuesday at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Even though the Knicks didn’t acquire any stars in the offseason, Anthony said he’s “excited” about the additions the Knicks did make in the offseason. The Knicks signed center Robin Lopez, shooting guard Arron Afflalo, forward, Derrick Williams, backup center Kevin Seraphin and power forward Kyle O’Quinn.

In addition the Knicks also drafted 7-1 big man Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth pick and also drafted point guard Jerian Grant with the 19th pick after acquiring that pick for Tim Hardaway Jr.

Anthony spent time working with Porzingis, doing one on one drills and recently Melo has also been scrimmaging with his other teammates as well at the Knicks practice facility.

Seeing Anthony back healthy and ready to go as the 2015-2016 NBA season is about to begin, is a huge sigh of relief for Knicks fans. The Knicks went through their worst year ever last season and Melo was bothered by his left knee all season and eventually had to shut it down. In order for the Knicks to have a much better year and perhaps contend for the playoffs in the weak East, they definitely need a healthy Carmelo Anthony.

Other than God, sports are my biggest love. My teams are the Mets, Knicks, NY Giants, NY Rangers and St Johns basketball (St. John's alumni). I especially love the Mets like crazy, more than any other team and seeing them win the World Series would be a dream come true and definitely the best sports moment. The Knicks are a close second. I also like to write, so combine that with my passion for sports equals a perfect scenario, I would love to do sports writing long term. If not that, then probably sports broadcasting, cause I love to talk sports as well. In addition to writing for ESNY, I'm also currently writing for Metsmerizedonline.
