New York Knicks first-round pick Kristaps Porzingis has been excited to speak on his new and improved bulky body ready-made for the NBA.

An overwhelming feeling of “no” poured out at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY during the 2015 NBA Draft.

It came when Phil Jackson put his stamp of approval on Kristaps Porzingis as the newest member (and perhaps hero) of the New York Knicks.

What the Knicks were doing with this tall, lanky and completely over-matched big nobody knew. The 19-year old Latvian would surely get pushed around underneath like a little brother trying to keep up with his elder.

The NBA Summer League changed much of that thinking.

While Porzingis did get pushed around a bit, he displayed characteristics of toughness and grit. Everybody who watched came away ultra impressed with his basketball acumen. Let’s not forget to mention the showcasing of his incredible raw skills as well.

As the preseason nears, Porzingis is now proclaiming he has a bit of a surprise for Knicks fans: A more bulky body.

This past Monday the New York Post reported that Porzingis has put on 11-pounds since we last saw him. And now, the kid can’t wait to show it off, via Marc Berman.

“It’s the upper body,’’ Porzingis told The Post. “Guys can’t push me around that easy, and I still got time to get a little stronger. I can’t wait for training camp.’’

“I’m working out twice a day, lifting hard, trying to eat as much as possible to gain weight, getting my sleep, doing the right things to gain weight,” he said. “I’m getting stronger and I’m feeling stronger playing in five-on-five pickup. Definitely feeling stronger.’’

The idea that Zinger can use his incredible quickness and agility with that 7’3” frame is one that blows our minds.

If he can truly bang down low with the big bodies of the NBA, he could be unstoppable after experience is gained.
