After the noise of Carlos Gomez and a painful rain delay, the New York Mets let a 7-1 lead slip away to the Padres on Thursday afternoon.
At this moment in time the New York Mets fan has to be wondering what else could possibly turn sour.
First, Sandy Alderson announced in such a hasty way that Carlos Gomez wasn’t going to become a Met after the entire world had it written in stone. Then the entire world of social media poked fun at Wilmer Flores.
Now, they’ve choked up a six run lead against the San Diego Padres in the rubber game of a three game set at Citi Field.

With the Mets nursing a 6-1 lead after six innings of play, the bullpen proceeded to choke it up.
First came Bobby Parnell. He was tagged for three earned runs in just 0.1 innings pitched. However, the game came down to Jeurys Familia. With two outs in the ninth inning – and the skies opening up to a downpour the city hasn’t seen in awhile – Familia surrendered a three run shot to Justin Upton.
The 8-7 deficit lasted a long time due to the game being suspended for the second time after the top of the ninth.

Two rain delays and a poor bullpen did the Mets in.
They’ll be back in action tomorrow night as they’ll host the first place Washington Nationals who are currently three games up.
