The Toronto Blue Jays decided to force everybody to scratch their heads further with the acquisition of Troy Tulowitzki for Jose Reyes.

While Troy Tulowitzki did get his wish in being moved, he didn’t get shipped to New York City, the place he’s been aching to go the past couple of years.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports made the announcement that Tulo will become the next member of the Toronto Blue Jays. Going back to the Colorado Rockies is shortstop Jose Reyes and along with minor league players. Relief pitcher LaTroy Hawkins will also head north of the border.

For the Jays, this trade is a head scratcher.

Why would a lineup that’s leading MLB in runs with 528 need to add yet another power bat? They’re already loaded from the right-hand side with the likes of Josh Donaldson, Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista.

For the Rockies it’s simple. Unloading Tulo’s contract remained critical. They can now engage in talks of flipping Reyes to another team prior to the deadline.

Whether the New York Mets inquire about Reyes remains to be seen.
